visitation
I hadn't seen her in years. I was out tending my garden when she just appeared out of nowhere. She looked exactly the same as did years ago just with a few more wrinkles. Otherwise, she hadn't changed at all. I remembered her in vivid detail. How couldn't I? She was the one who tortured me for years, the reason I had to leave my job I loved so much. Her constant harassment has gotten the best of me and eventually, I or my body couldn't take it anymore and I quit. I'm assuming she saw the anger in my face as she walked up as her face turned sad. An expression I never thought she had. All I had known from her was that devilish smile. Eventually, she made it up to my yard and before she could let a word out
"What are you doing here?" I said angrily "I thought I told you to leave me alone"
"I know," she said with her head down shamefully.
"Can you please just leave I don't have time for this"
"I know I'm sorry I just...I've had a lot of time lately and I wanted to apologize for everything I put you through"
"And why should I forgive you?" I said eyeing her down. Giving her a taste of her own medicine.
"You shouldn't," She said making her way back to her car. I would never see her again after that. I had long nights where I would think of the short encounter and wonder what happened? Why now?
