He was a hard worker 

But so was I 

Even if some people didn't want me to 

That's why he was insistent on being in charge of the bills

Almost too insistent

I had to trust him

For the family

Until late nights

Became later nights

Eventually, I found the pay stubs

and the photos

and the phone calls

I knew I had to do something.

My kids have been begging to go back 

Back to the house, they grew up in

The lake they all learned to swim

In remembrance of dad

It has been ten years

I had to say yes eventually
